Site Time Tracker ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users understand their browsing habits by tracking the time spent on websites and the frequency of website visits.

Privacy first: Site Time Tracker is designed to keep your browsing statistics locally in your browser. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your browsing activity.

1. Information We Collect

The Extension records limited information required to provide its website time-tracking functionality:

Website hostname, such as techieqa.com.
Time spent on each tracked website.
Number of visits to each tracked website.
Daily website usage totals.
The most recently active website for displaying current tracking status.

The Extension is designed to track website hostnames rather than webpage contents. It does not intentionally collect webpage text, form entries, passwords, payment information, bookmarks, or browsing history beyond the usage information needed for its stated purpose.

2. How We Use Information

The collected information is used solely to provide the Extension's core functionality:

Calculating time spent on websites.
Counting website visits.
Displaying frequently used websites.
Displaying daily and all-time usage statistics.
Showing the currently tracked website.

3. Local Storage

Usage statistics are stored using Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local). The data is stored on the user's device and is not transmitted by the Extension to a remote database or analytics server.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your website usage data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

The Extension does not intentionally transmit collected browsing usage information to external servers.

5. Permissions

Tabs

The tabs permission is used to identify the active website hostname so that the Extension can measure time spent on that website and record visit frequency.

Storage

The storage permission is used to save website usage statistics locally in Chrome, including visit counts, time spent, and daily totals.

Idle

The idle permission is used to detect when the user becomes inactive. Tracking is paused during inactive periods so that the Extension does not incorrectly count idle time as active website usage.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Usage statistics remain in the browser until the user removes them. The Extension provides a Clear all data option that allows the user to delete the stored tracking statistics.

Uninstalling the Extension may also remove its locally stored extension data according to Chrome's storage behavior.

7. Security

Because usage statistics are stored locally rather than on our servers, there is no central database containing your browsing usage data. Users should nevertheless keep their browser and operating system secure and protected.

8. Children's Privacy

Site Time Tracker is a general-purpose browser utility. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Extension does not require users to create an account or provide personal information.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Extension's functionality, permissions, or privacy practices change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
